Charge

At a hearing held on 08 February 2018, the Health Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal considered a charge laid by the Professional Conduct Committee (PCC), against Mr David Savage, (the Nurse) formerly of Wellington.

The charge alleged that the Nurse had been convicted in the District Court on two counts of indecent assault against a colleague.

Mr Savage did not attend the hearing and the hearing proceeded on a formal proof basis.

Findings

The Tribunal found that the convictions entered against the Nurse reflected adversely on his fitness to practise as a nurse and the charge was established.  The Tribunal found that the misconduct was serious enough that disciplinary sanction should follow.

Penalty

The Tribunal censured the Nurse, and cancelled his registration.  The Nurse was ordered to pay a total of $4,400 as a contribution to the costs of the Tribunal and the PCC.
