The Health Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal hears and determines disciplinary proceedings brought against health practitioners.The Tribunal has produced a useful guide setting out the usual procedures to be followed before and during a hearing. The Tribunal comprises a Chairperson and four deputy chairpersons appointed by the Minister of Health and a panel of laypersons and health practitioners appointed by the Director General of Health under delegation by the Minister of Health.
The Tribunal, when sitting to hear and determine a charge, is made up of five members:
- the chair or a deputy chair;
- appointed from the panel, three health professionals, professional peers of the practitioner the subject of the charge; and
- a layperson.
