Charge

On 05 August 2013 the Health Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal considered a charge laid by a Professional Conduct Committee against Dr Joseph Petelo, Dentist of Christchurch (the Dentist).

The charge alleged that the Dentist had practised without a practising certificate between 01 October 2012 and 10 October 2012.

Finding

The hearing proceeded by way of an agreed summary of facts.  The Tribunal found that the charge was established and noted it did not require the Tribunal to consider whether the matter warranted disciplinary sanction or not.

Penalty

The Tribunal censured the Dentist, ordered he pay a fine of $500 and costs of $4,000 to be divided between the PCC and the Tribunal.  The Tribunal directed publication of its decision and a summary.
